I have the goals….. I wrote them down…..I made them numerical so that I could keep track. Everything was ready.

Except me.

New Years day arrived and I had the biggest false start you could imagine.

Tomorrow, it’s on. Bring on the Juice Fast, the exercise and the entire lot.

Is This a Good Book?


I’ve become very interested in food since watching Forks Over Knives. I’ve read Whole by Collin Campbell, Healthy Bitch and several others.

I just found this one in the library and it looks like a good one too.

Anyone read it yet and have a review? Or, of the author…Michael Pollan?

Let the Green Smoothies Begin! I’ve been bugging my wife about going on a Water Fast, breaking the Pleasure Trap and then starting over with doing the entire Forks Over Knives, Rich Roll, etc Vegan diet. I did it for a good bit of the start of 2013 and felt great. (I fell off the wagon hard)

Now, I have no excuses! My bluff has been called! Time to put up or shut up! And, any other generic phrases you want to put in there.

It’s going to be fun! (Maybe not the fasting part 🙂 )


The Pleasure Trap….Or, How to Break Your Bad Food Addiction

Have you ever heard of The Pleasure Trap? I hadn’t either until I saw this TED video by Douglas Lisle.

It’s excellent! He gives great information about how processed foods have interfered with the normal amount of happiness we derive from natural foods. It’s very similar to the effect found from drugs……yes, drugs.

The best way to break the cycle and reset your system is through fasting. This video was the tipping point in my decision to do a water fast and reset my own pallet.

I’ve been involved in a biggest looser type competition the past 8 weeks of the summer. Everyone put 30 bucks into a pot and the winners won the dough.  There were three categories: most pounds lost, most inches lost and greatest body fat change.

I came in third place in the body fat change.  I also lost almost 15 pounds! Awesome.
